Stephen Kalinich is a self-taught artist with a prolific career. Mostly known as a poet and for his songwriting collaborations, he gained prominence in the 1960s writing song lyrics for The Beach Boys with Brian and Dennis Wilson. He has collaborated with Paul McCartney, P. F. Sloan, Brian May of Queen, and many other famous composers and performers. In 1969, Kalinich recorded his only album, A World of Peace Must Come, produced by Brian Wilson which was not released until 2008. Although often described as a poet whose works uphold 1960s hippie values, Kalinich has been active in many fields, performing his poetry, recording his own songs, acting in movies, and now, in his late 70s, he’s started to paint.
